Quick answer
To make a digital advent calendar for your partner, write a short note behind each of the 24 doors, add your names if you like and create the link. Send it before 1 December: each door unlocks on its date in your partner's own time zone, so they open one little message a day until Christmas Eve. It is free, needs no sign-up and the notes are never stored on our servers.

How the digital advent calendar maker works
Write a note behind each door from 1 to 24 December: a memory, a promise, a small task, a song to play. You can start from the suggested ideas and rewrite them, fill only the doors you want, and add who it is for and from. Your draft is kept on your device as you type, so you can come back to it.
When you create the link, your partner sees a calendar of 24 doors. Each door unlocks on its day in December in their time zone, so door 5 opens on 5 December wherever they are. Doors they have opened stay open on their device, and locked doors show a padlock until their day comes.
How to make a digital advent calendar in five steps
- Choose the year and, if you like, add their name and yours. Names are optional and limited to 30 characters.
- Write 24 short notes, up to 200 characters each. Short is good: a door is a small moment, not a letter.
- Use “Fill empty doors with ideas” if you are stuck, then rewrite each one so it sounds like you.
- Press “Create calendar link”, then open it yourself with “Open as your partner sees it” to check the doors.
- Send the link privately before 1 December, by message or email. Anyone with the link can read the notes.
24 advent calendar ideas for couples
The best doors mix things to read, things to do and things to look forward to. Borrow from each group to fill all 24:

Memories (doors 1 to 6)
- The first thing you noticed about them.
- The message that made you sure.
- A photo from your first month, with a line about it.
- The funniest moment of the year.
- A place you want to go back to together.
- A small habit of theirs you secretly love.
Little tasks (doors 7 to 12)
- Look at the moon at 9 PM your time; I will too.
- Make a hot chocolate and send me a picture.
- Draw a Christmas tree in 60 seconds and swap drawings.
- Watch the first ten minutes of a festive film at the same time.
- Tell me three good things about today.
- Pick a song for our winter playlist.
Coupons and promises (doors 13 to 18)
- One long call, any night you choose.
- Breakfast in bed on the next visit.
- You pick the film, no complaints.
- A handwritten letter, posted this week.
- A day of planning our next trip, together.
- One favour, no questions asked.
Things to look forward to (doors 19 to 24)
- A hint about your present.
- Check the post today.
- Our plan for New Year's Eve.
- Three things I want to do with you next year.
- What I am grateful for this year.
- On Christmas Eve: a longer note, from the heart.
Advent calendar ideas for a boyfriend or girlfriend
There is no need for a separate list. Think about what makes your partner light up: some people love compliments and memories, others want a challenge or a joke. A Christmas calendar for a boyfriend who loves games could be full of tiny challenges; one for a girlfriend who keeps every card could be full of memories. Mix in a few surprises either way.
If you are writing for a partner who is not much of a texter, keep the notes short and specific, and add one or two doors they can answer with a photo instead of words.
A long-distance advent calendar: digital and real
A digital advent calendar works wherever your partner is, but it is lovely to tie a few doors to the real world. Post a card early and leave a door that says “check the post today” for when it should arrive. Pair a door with a date: a film night, a call while you both bake, or a shared drawing (there are drawing ideas for couples to choose from).
If the two of you are in very different time zones, the doors open on your partner's calendar, not yours. Use the time zone overlap finder to pick a time for any door that involves doing something together, and a countdown until we meet if you are seeing each other over the holidays.
Private by design
Your notes are not saved on our servers. They are packed into the part of the link after the # sign, which browsers do not send to websites. That also means anyone who has the link can read every note, so send it directly to your partner rather than posting it publicly.
Links written inside doors are shown as plain text rather than clickable links, which keeps calendars safe to open. To change a note after sending, edit it and send the new link.
When to send your advent calendar
Send the link by the end of November so it is waiting on 1 December. Running late? Past days open straight away, so a calendar sent on 10 December opens ten doors at once, which can be a lovely catch-up. Or choose “Let them open every door now” and it works as a 24-note love letter instead.

Q & A
Frequently asked questions
How do I make a digital advent calendar?
Write a note for each of the 24 doors, add your names if you like and press “Create calendar link”. Send that link to your partner; they open one door per day from 1 December.
Is this digital advent calendar free?
Yes. There is no sign-up, payment or app needed to make or open the calendar.
What should I put in an advent calendar for my boyfriend or girlfriend?
Short memories, compliments, coupons, songs, small shared tasks and hints about real gifts. Use the starter ideas and rewrite them so they sound like you.

Only if you choose “Let them open every door now”. Otherwise each door unlocks on its date in December in your partner's time zone.
What happens if I send it after 1 December?
Doors for days that have already passed open straight away, and the rest unlock on their dates.
Can I make a digital advent calendar for adults?
Yes. It is made for couples, with notes you write yourself. Keep in mind that anyone with the link can read the notes.
Are my notes private?
Your notes are stored only inside the link, after the # sign, which is not sent to Lovelle's servers. Anyone you give the link to can read them, so share it only with your partner.
