Counting down to the holidays?

For example, when the flight lands. Leave empty to count to the start of the day.

The countdown uses this city's time zone.

Shows the reunion time in their local time too.

Add the last time you were together

Choose the day you will see each other to start the countdown.

Quick answer

To count down the days until you see each other, enter the date and time you will meet, the city you will meet in and where your partner is now. The long distance countdown shows the days, hours, minutes and seconds left, the number of sleeps, and the reunion time in both your local times. Send the link and your partner sees the same countdown on their phone.

How to set up your countdown until we meet

Choose the day you will see each other and, if you know it, the time: the moment the flight lands or the train pulls in. Then pick the city where you will meet, so the countdown is anchored to the right time zone, and the city your partner is in now, so the reunion is shown in their local time too.

The countdown ticks live in days, hours, minutes and seconds, with a simpler count of sleeps (nights to go) for when the seconds feel like too much. Add the date you last saw each other and you also get a progress bar showing how much of the wait is already behind you.

Why the meeting city matters

A countdown to “6:30 PM on 18 December” means different moments in London and in Mumbai. Anchoring the time to the city you will meet in keeps the number honest for both of you, even when daylight saving starts or ends during the wait.

Worked example: a London reunion counted from Mumbai

One partner lives in Mumbai and is flying to London, landing at 6:30 PM on Friday 18 December 2026. Their partner in London sets up the countdown:

Example

Meeting in London on 18 December 2026 at 6:30 PM

  • In London: Friday 18 December, 6:30 PM.
  • For the partner in Mumbai: Saturday 19 December, 12:00 AM, five and a half hours ahead.
  • Checked on 24 October 2026, that is 55 days and 55 sleeps to go.
  • With 1 September as the last time together, the wait is almost half done.

Both partners can open the same link. The numbers match because they count to the same moment, even though the clocks on their walls say different things.

Days until I see you, or sleeps until I see you?

Days, hours and seconds are exact and fun to watch on the last day. Sleeps are kinder over a long wait: “12 sleeps until I see you” is easier to hold in your head than 287 hours. The sleep count uses the calendar in the city you will meet in, so it drops by one each night there.

Pick the one that feels right and share it. The image you save shows the sleeps, the days and hours, and the place and time you will meet.

Long distance countdown ideas

A number on a screen is only part of it. Small rituals make the wait feel like part of the story:

A paper chain

Make one link per sleep and tear one off each night. Send a photo when you are down to the last ten.

Open-when notes

Write a few notes to open on hard days: when they miss you, when they cannot sleep, the night before the trip.

A daily photo

Swap one photo a day of something you want to show them when they arrive.

The first-day plan

Agree what you will do in the first hour together, then the first evening, then the first morning.

A shared playlist

Add one song each per week. Listen to it on the way to the airport.

Countdown messages

Send the share link on round numbers: 50 days, 30 days, 10 sleeps, tomorrow.

Christmas countdown: how many sleeps until Christmas?

Press Christmas Eve, Christmas Day or New Year above the date and the countdown jumps to the next one, counting to the start of the day (or to midnight on New Year's Eve) in the city you choose. You get the same live days, hours, minutes and seconds, and the number of sleeps until Christmas, which is exactly the question so many people type into a search box every December.

Search suggestions also show people looking for a Christmas countdown for a specific country, from the UK and Canada to Australia and the Philippines. That is because Christmas arrives at different moments around the world. Pick your own city and the countdown follows your local clock; pick your partner's city as the second one and you see when Christmas starts for them too.

Spending Christmas apart?

If you cannot be together for the holidays, count down to Christmas anyway and share the link, then plan a few things to do on the day: open presents on a call at a time that suits both clocks, cook the same dish, or watch the same film. An advent calendar gives your partner a little door to open every day in December, and couples bingo has a holiday-season card. If you will see each other in the new year, set the date of that visit as your next countdown.

Making the wait feel shorter

Long waits are easier with something to look forward to every week, not just at the end. Plan a few small moments together between now and the visit: a film night, a call where you cook the same meal, a drawing date or one of these long-distance relationship activities.

If you are in different time zones, find a call slot that does not cost either of you sleep: the time zone overlap finder shows the hours you share. And keep the routine light, with a few small daily rituals rather than an hour-long call you both feel you have to keep.

  • Keep a running list of things to do together, and pick from it when the day comes.
  • Plan the trip details together, so the countdown is shared work, not a waiting game for one person.
  • Count down to the next call or parcel too, when the visit itself is months away.

After the visit: the next countdown

The days after a goodbye can be the hardest of all. Many couples find it helps to set the next date before the visit ends, even a rough one, and start the new countdown on the way home. If you do not have a date yet, count down to something smaller, like your next milestone or your next anniversary.

Q & A

Frequently asked questions

How do I make a countdown to see my boyfriend or girlfriend?

Enter the date and time you will meet, the meeting city and where your partner is now, then press “Copy link” or “Share” and send it. They open the link and see the same live countdown.

How many days until I see you: how is it counted?

The countdown measures the exact time until the moment you will meet in the meeting city's time zone. Sleeps count the nights left on that city's calendar.

Does the countdown work across time zones?

Yes. The reunion is anchored to the city you will meet in, and the result shows the same moment in your partner's city. Daylight-saving changes during the wait are taken into account.

What does “sleeps” mean in the countdown?

Sleeps are the number of nights left before the day you meet. It is a gentler way to count a long wait than hours or seconds.

Can my partner see the same countdown?

Yes. The share link contains the date, time and cities, so the page opens with the same countdown on any phone or computer.

Can I keep the countdown on my phone?

Bookmark the link or, in most mobile browsers, use “Add to Home Screen” to open it like an app. You can also save the result as an image to use as a wallpaper.

Can I count down to Christmas or New Year?

Yes. Press Christmas Eve, Christmas Day or New Year above the date. The countdown jumps to the next one in your chosen city's time zone and shows the days, hours and sleeps left, and you can share it like any other countdown.

Do you save the dates or names I enter?

No. The calculation runs in your browser and nothing you type is sent to or stored on Lovelle's servers. Your inputs are kept in the page address after the # sign, which browsers do not send to websites, so a share link opens with the same result. Anyone with the link can see those inputs, so share it only with people you trust.
