Quick answer
To play never have I ever as a couple online, choose a deck (sweet, funny, adventure or long distance), add your names and press start. Read the card out, then each of you taps “I have” or “I never”. The game keeps a running score of who has more stories, and you take turns explaining your “I have” answers. There are 100 cards, all PG-13, and none repeat until you have played the whole deck.

How to play never have I ever as a couple
Traditionally, players fold a finger down each time they have done something. You can still do that for fun, but the scoreboard does the counting for you.
- Pick a deck. Sweet suits a cosy night in; Funny is for laughs; Adventure is about travel and daring; Long distance is all calls, visits and time zones.
- Add both names so the score makes sense. They stay on this screen only.
- Press “Start playing” and read the card out loud.
- Each of you taps “I have” or “I never”. Anyone who has gets to tell the story: when, where and why.
- Press “Next card” to keep going. The score updates after each card.
The four decks
Each deck has 25 statements, and every card starts with “Never have I ever”. Here is a taste of each one.

| Deck | Mood | Example card |
|---|---|---|
| Sweet | Romantic confessions | Never have I ever reread our old messages just to smile. |
| Funny | Silly and harmless | Never have I ever waved back at someone who was waving at someone else. |
| Adventure | Travel and daring | Never have I ever slept in an airport. |
| Long distance | Life apart | Never have I ever set an alarm just to say good morning in your time zone. |
Why every card is PG-13
Lots of never have I ever lists online lean towards the explicit or the embarrassing. Ours does not. Every card is written so you could play it with a new partner, at a family gathering or on a call without anyone squirming. The fun comes from the stories, not from shock value.
That also makes it a good game early in a relationship. Questions like “Never have I ever told a friend about you within a day of meeting you” reveal how someone feels without putting them on the spot.
- Agree that anyone can skip a story. A simple “pass” is enough.
- No teasing later about anything shared during the game.
- If a card brings up something serious, pause the game and listen.
Never have I ever for long-distance couples
The long-distance deck is made for couples who know the feeling of a dropped call at the worst possible moment. Cards like “Never have I ever fallen asleep on a call with you” and “Never have I ever looked up flights to you just for fun” are as much about your relationship as about each of you, so they spark sweet conversations.
To play on a call, one of you opens the game and reads the cards out, and you both answer out loud. Or both open the same deck and take turns pressing “Next card”. It also works by text: send one card at a time and reply when you can, which suits couples in very different time zones. Our guide to long-distance relationship activities has more ideas for a call.
Pair it with other games
Never have I ever is a great middle game for a night in. Warm up with a round of this or that, play never have I ever until the stories run out, then switch to truth or dare for something a little bolder, all PG-13.
Any “I never” you both answered can go straight onto your bucket list. It turns the game into plans: if neither of you has ever seen the northern lights, maybe that is the next big trip.
