Five in a row, column or diagonal is a bingo. The free square in the middle counts for everyone.

Quick answer

Couples bingo is a 5×5 card of things to do together, with a free square in the middle. Pick a theme (long distance, date night, at home or holiday season) and the tool draws 24 squares at random. Tick a square each time you do it together; five in a row, column or diagonal is a bingo, and the whole card is a blackout. Print it for the fridge or send the link so you both play the same card.

How to play couples bingo

There is no time limit. Some couples race through a date night card in a month; others keep one on the fridge for a whole season and tick a square every week or two.

  1. Choose a theme. Each one has 28 ideas, and your card uses 24 of them in a random order.
  2. Press “New card” if you want a different mix. The free square in the middle is always ticked.
  3. Do a square together, then tap it to tick it off. Your ticks are saved in the page link.
  4. Get five in a row, a column or a diagonal for a bingo. Keep going for a blackout: all 12 lines.
  5. Copy the link to keep your card, or send it to your partner so you are both working on the same one.

The four bingo themes

Each theme has its own free square and 28 ideas. Here is what to expect.

Long-distance relationship bingo

Bingo is a lovely structure for a long-distance relationship. It turns “we should do something fun on our calls” into a list you can actually work through, and every tick is a small win you share. Every square on the long-distance card works over a call or by post.

Send your partner the card link, so you both see the same squares. When you tick one, send the updated link, or just tell them on your next call. Some squares pair nicely with other tools: “Count down to a visit” with the countdown until we meet, and “Ask three deep questions” with the random question generator.

  • Pick one square a week and put it in both calendars.
  • Take a screenshot or photo every time you tick a square. By the end you have a little album of your season.
  • Agree a prize for a blackout, like the first dinner out on your next visit.

A holiday season card for November to New Year

The holiday season card is made for the run-up to the end of the year. Start it in November and see how many lines you can finish by New Year's Eve. It mixes cosy traditions (bake festive cookies, make paper snowflakes) with ones that look outward (donate to a food bank together, write cards to family).

If you are apart for the holidays, many squares still work: watch a holiday film at the same time, make a holiday playlist, open a digital advent calendar together each day. Leave the in-person ones for when you are together, or swap them for something you can do on a call.

Make it yours

Bingo works best when the squares feel like you. If a card has something you would never do, press “New card” until it feels right. You can also print a card and write over a square with your own idea; nobody is checking.

Want a longer list of things to do together? The bucket list builder lets you write your own and tick them off over years, not weeks. For one-off ideas, our long-distance relationship activities has plenty more.

  • A monthly card: one new card on the first of every month
  • A season card: one card on the fridge from November to New Year

Q & A

Frequently asked questions

What is couples bingo?

A bingo card where each square is something to do together, such as trying a new restaurant or posting a handwritten letter. Tick squares as you do them and aim for a line or a full card.

Is there a long-distance relationship bingo card?

Yes. The long-distance theme has 28 ideas that all work over a call or by post, like cooking the same recipe on a call or sending a care package.

How do we both play the same card?

Copy the card link and send it. It opens the same squares with your ticks. Send the updated link whenever you tick something new.

Can I print the bingo card?

Yes. Press “Print card” for a clean printable version, or save the card as an image.

What counts as a bingo?

Five ticked squares in a row, a column or either diagonal. The free square in the middle counts for everyone. Ticking every square is a blackout.

Are the bingo ideas free to do?

Many are free or cheap, especially the at-home and long-distance cards. A few date night squares, like a dance class, cost money: press “New card” if you would rather skip them.

Does Lovelle save what I type?

No. The tool runs in your browser and nothing you type is sent to or stored on Lovelle's servers. When you share, your choices travel inside the link after the # sign, which browsers do not send to websites. That part is not encrypted, so anyone with the link can read it. Share it only with the person it is meant for.
